Flavour of the Week: Tonic & Remedy

A new restaurant on City Road, with great cocktails and weird and wonderful, historically-themed dishes at its heart

What's the draw

The notoriously dizzying M by Montcalm hotel's flagship restaurant, which pays homage to the apothecaries of olde London town.

What to drink

Cocktails are both excellent and, starting at £8, pretty reasonable for this part of town. We had the Myst-erious Sazerac, made with cardamom-infused Makers Mark, absinthe and candy floss.

What to eat

"G&T-cured salmon" had our salivary glands working overtime before we even got there, and it didn't disappoint. Our main, chargrilled pork collar with turnip and radish, was unctuous, and so tender and we could cut it with a fork. Highly recommended.
