Did you know National Calvados Week was a thing? You didn't? Well now that you do, there's no good reason we can think of why you wouldn't celebrate it with a cocktail at home.

The quintessentially French apple brandy was created in Normandy, and the temptation's there to think of it as an old-school digestif. But bartenders are, as they tend to be, cleverer than that, so it's becoming increasingly prevalent on cocktail menus around London.

Want to see it in action? Take a look at this cocktail below.

Ingredients

  • 20ml Calvados Père Magloire VSOP
  • 20ml peach wine
  • 20ml lemon juice
  • 1 egg white

Method

Shake all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker and strain into a coupe glass. Garnish with a dried apple.

National Calvados Week runs from 26-1 November. During the event, more than 100 bars, shops, supermarkets and independent off licenses – including 155 Bar & Kitchen, Hawksmoor, Waitrose and Gerry’s of Soho –will have special cocktails menus, Père Magloire Calvados tastings, food pairings, and cooking masterclasses.
