1. Jose Pizarro
The all-conquering Spanish chef has just opened his third restaurant in the newly developed Broadgate Circle, and he's continuing the momentum with a starring role at this year's Taste of London. As well as restaurants, Pizarro is known for his hugely well-thought-of cookbooks, which aim to show home cooks how accessible modern Spanish cooking can be. Pizarro will be at the AEG Taste Theatre on Thursday 18 June, from 12-4pm.

2. Thomasina Miers
Ever eaten at a Wahaca, or DF Mexico in Shoreditch? If so, you'll already know about the group's executive chef's authentic, vibrant Mexican cooking style, informed by time spent in the country while training. She'll be showing her skills at the AEG Taste Theatre on Friday 19 June from 12-4pm.

3. Ben Tish
Graduating from Salt Yard's head chef to executive chef of a whole portfolio of restaurants may seem like a pretty mean feat, but Ben Tish has made it look easy, with his laid-back take on tapas now represented by four restaurants across the capital. Catch him and Opera Tavern head chef Jamie Thickett in action on Saturday 20 June from 5:30-9.30pm.

4. Nuno Mendes
Have you been wondering what's behind Chiltern Firehouse's rise to power in 2014? It's in no small thanks to its head chef Nuno Mendes, who joined after stints in world-class restaurants across the Americas and the acclaimed Viajante at the Town Hall Hotel. He's just opened a new restaurant, Taberna do Mercado – in the meantime, you can catch him at the Theatre on Saturday 20 June between 12 and 4pm.

5. Scott Hallsworth
The Aussie chef's rock 'n' roll East Asian food, formerly to be found in Chelsea and Kensington, seems remarkably at-home in its new east London location at the Laundry – serendipitous, then, that his cooking style has always been East meets West. You can see for yourself how he commands flavours from Japan and beyond, and chews them up and spits them out for an audience of hungry Londoners at the Taste Theatre on Friday 19 June from 5.30-9.30pm.
